Professors and students use the iSA Platform (www.isaplatform.com) to share and discuss clinical cases of academic interest.

Trujillo (capital of La Libertad region – northwestern Peru) keeps on innovating in the use of new technologies applied to health care. This time professors and students of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo (UNT) implemented a teaching social network to share and comment clinical cases, mainly related to infectious diseases and pediatrics.

The clinical teaching network of the UNT is based on the iSA technological platform and seeks to achieve the following goals:

(1)   To help students acquire a global vision concerning the diseases suffered by patients.

(2)   To facilitate a constant relationship among professors and students reviewing and discussing clinical cases of high practical interest.

(3)   To connect students in order to share experience. The network seeks the exchange of knowledge and experience between those students currently going through training, as well as past and future students.

(4)   To satisfy the great need of being updated in terms of scientific literature considering the integration of virtual libraries in the platform.

(5)   To encourage participants to give their opinions openly and interact with specialists worldwide.

(6)   To promote the network among students of the region and position Trujillo hospitals, along with UNT, in the international medical scenario.

Without doubt the birth of the UNT teaching network is a very important achievement that places the pillars of a social network model that could to be exported to other regions and countries. The iSA Project appreciates the excellent work carried out by the professors and students of UNT proposing the challenge of empowering the platform to convert it in a model of reference not only for Latin America but also for many communities around the world.
